Our Activities include:
Summer camp for children, age 6-14, at no charge to the family. Our week long, overnight camp is held in Jackson, LA. Our theme for the 2004 Camp is “A Sea of Possibilities” and is being held Sunday, June 6 through June 11, 2004. It is provided as a service at no charge to the families. The activities provided are extensive such as horse back riding, swimming, golf, soccer, arts and crafts, hot air balloon rides. Bleeding disorder information and appropriate training is provided. Fundraisers- to raise money toward finding a cure for bleeding disorders such as the annual “Shoot For a Cure” Skeet and Trap Shoot , the annual “Swing For a Cure” Golf Tournament, and our annual poinsettia fundraising event. Annual Meeting- This year it is being held in Baton Rouge, LA from Friday evening, June 25 through noon on Sunday, June 27th. The cost is only $20.00 (will be waived upon request for indigent families) for each immediate family unit and includes all meals, entertainment, educational sessions, and lodging for the family. The annual meeting facilitates bringing families together to build support networks in a recreational and relaxing environment, while providing educational information. Don’t miss this opportunity! PALS Program -(Patient Advocacy Learning and Services Program) offers regional and statewide educational and peer support programs to families with bleeding disorders. We provide the location, a speaker on an educational topic, refreshments and entry tickets (if applicable) so that families can get together to learn about bleeding disorders and related issues and get to know one another. The kids will be provided with age appropriate activities and have a chance to make new friends as well. All scheduled meetings/activities will be added to our website, published in our newsletter, and a notice will be mailed to all people on our mailing list for that region, or statewide if a statewide event, with enough time for families to make plans to attend. Weekend Teen Retreat- June 18-June 19, 2004 for ages 13 to 19. The 2004 event will be held at Lake Fausse State Park and will include canoeing, water paddle boats, swamp tours , cook- outs and good traditional camping fun in the comfort of full cabins at the park.
